Effectiveness of hepatitis B hyperimmunglobulin and vaccine in preventing perinatal transmission in children born from a mother with chronic B hepatitis

Background. Viral hepatitis is still one of the important health problems all over world today. Hepatitis B a life-threatening liver infection that can cause chronic infections. It increases risk death from cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. One most factors in or acute age infection. The earlier virus encountered, greater chronicity disease. Prevention perinatal transmission disease great importance. effective way to control prevent contamination ensure immunity. There safe vaccine available provides 98–100% protection against B. development complications, including cancer. purpose this study evaluate efficacy immunoglobulin administered babies born mothers with Materials methods. Fifty-five children our hospital between January 1, 2013 2019 accepted participate were included study. In retrospective file examination, maternal gestational age, test, delivery method, baby birth weight, week, whether these first 24 hours after birth, administration time, bathroom status, infant tests, additional studies on child’s viral diseases (hepatitis C, human immunodeficiency virus) baby’s transaminase tests (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase) evaluated. vaccination program baby, mother’s time breast milk intake, height weight follow-up mother during pregnancy drug use status collected. Children previously diagnosed excluded Results. surface antigen positive two infants who received three doses vaccine. both for envelope antigen. Forty-three (78.2 %) patients had protective antibodies antigen, while 12 (21.8 didn’t have it. Conclusions. serology should be checked women live countries high are pregnant, immunoglobulin.
